Microblading VS Traditional Tattoos: A Comparative Guide

Eyebrow microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup where pigment that's specifically formulated for the brows, is used to create hair like strokes to give the fullness of the brow. It’s similar to eyebrow tattooing (in fact, it originated from traditional eyebrow tattooing), but it’s very different from standard eyebrow tattooing in some very important ways.

1. MICROBLADED BROWS ARE ETCHED INTO THE BROWS WITH A TINY TOOL; WE DON’T USE A MACHINE.

This makes a big difference! Because it’s hand-drawn there is less impact on the skin than with traditional tattooing, which uses a machine and goes very deep into the skin. What this means for you is that the ink will not blur or go green over time. With a great microblading artist, you can be sure that the fine lines mimic the look of your natural hair.

2. MICROBLADING EYEBROWS LASTS 1 TO 3 YEARS. EYEBROW TATTOOS LAST FOREVER.

Regular eyebrow tattoos last a lifetime, but with microblading, we use pigment that’s designed specifically for the eyebrows. ink is not placed as deep underneath the skin as body tattooing. This means that as your skin naturally exfoliates over time, the pigment will gradually lighten and fade off, Depending on your skin, it may eventually disappear. Microblading requires regular touchups. Oily skin will exfoliate faster than dry skin, so if you have oily skin you may come back slightly more frequently to keep your hair strokes looking vibrant.

3. WITH MICROBLADING, WE DON’T USE BLACK PIGMENT

Microblading uses a completely different kind of pigment than traditional tattooing. With microblading, we do not use blacks, as these turn green over time. Even as the colour fades, it stays true to the original hue. Our formulas for the brows are the highest quality on the market and maintain their colour as the pigment fades.

In short, the main difference between Microblading and traditional tattooing is that Microblading is designed to be semi-permanent. This is because over time your face shape changes, so we can make adjustments to your brows, as well as we want the pigment to fade out beautifully and not turn green like a permanent traditional tattoo dye.
